I've been hunting for a good replacement nose-guard for one of my skateboards that used to have an original Powell-Peralta Nose Bone attached. I still have the OG Nose Bone, but it's been relocated to a more period-correct setup. Now I need a good nose guard to replace that one, and so far I've come fairly close without quite hitting the target. As such, you get to benefit from the UNUSED nose guard bundle that I've been collecting lately.

First up was the "Silicone Snowboard Sleeve" that you can find for sale here on Ebay. I got a Type E, which as you can see in the diagram, is 8.46" along the outer edge. It comes with three mounting screws that have sleeved nuts. Like the old T-nuts, but even better. Unfortunately, even though this was advertised as fitting a skateboard, it has a pretty narrow opening and would not slide onto the nose of my custom cruiser. If you have a really thin skateboard, possibly made out of snowboard material or something, this could fit. It seems like it would be secure and do the job well if you could find a board thin enough to fit it on. Powell Flight construction, perhaps? Hmmm....

Second, I decided to try the "CENTURY Skateboard Nose Guard, nose bone style, Sizes to FIT YOUR DECK - BLACK" that you can also find advertised here on Ebay. Well, despite the title, it does NOT fit the same holes as the original Nose Bones. That was a bit of a let down. Secondly, it's made out of an extremely rigid 3D-printed plastic. If your nose isn't the EXACT SAME CURVATURE as this "nose bone", it will not fit well, and there will be a gap somewhere, guaranteed. It's too rigid to form into place, like EVERY OTHER NOSE GUARD I've ever owned has been able to do. As such, I cannot use this, even though I followed the instructions and measured my board to be 6.25" wide at 1.75" below the nose. I guess the fact that it's more of a blunt nose shape and not fully round makes that measurement method PURE CRAP. I applaud the designer for a good attempt at a much-needed product. This was well thought out. There are different sizes for different boards, different colors, and wood screws are included. However, one fatal assumption was made: that all skateboard noses follow the exact same curve. This is just plain wrong and needs to be rethought. If you can be sure that your nose fits the same curvature of this nose guard, then you might be able to fit it right and have it do its job. Otherwise it's just going to be attached at a few weak points and will probably rattle itself lose over time. I guess I cannot hide the fact that I was extremely disappointed in this item. I'm sure it would do a great job for the right person on the right deck. But it's by far the least ADAPTABLE nose guard I've ever encountered in my entire life. Your mileage may vary.

I'll throw in a grip of free surprise stickers to make the deal sweeter.
